Jim Hayes and Tom Harrison, owners and developers on the Bolivar Peninsula, proudly present Sanderling, a beachfront subdivision consisting of 30 exquisite homes facing the stunning Gulf of Mexico. As the driving forces behind Johnson Beach Development LLC, Jim and Tom have channeled their extensive expertise and passion into creating this amazing coastal community.
The origins of Sanderling date back to the early 2000s when Jim Hayes acquired the land from the historic Johnson family, who had been the custodians of this pristine beachfront property since the 1860s. With a vision to offer a secluded, upscale beachfront lifestyle, Sanderling promises unparalleled privacy and tranquility. The community’s strategic location, combined with its affordability and the surrounding protected landscapes, makes it an ideal haven for those seeking a serene and luxurious place to call home.
Jim and Tom have been pivotal figures in the development of the Bolivar Peninsula for decades, having acquired and developed over 8,000 acres of land. Their notable projects include Driftwood, Laguna Harbor, and Sea Grass subdivisions.
Their dedication to the Peninsula extends beyond real estate; they played a crucial role in founding Bolivar Utility Services and revolutionizing the area’s infrastructure. Further demonstrating their commitment to environmental sustainability, they generously donated a 368-acre tract of prime coastal wetlands to the Houston Audubon Society in 2004, which now serves as the Mundy Marsh Bird Sanctuary, a sanctuary for diverse bird species and a testament to their dedication to Boliver’s ecosystem legacy.
